Domain Extension And TLD

All About Domain Extension And TLD

Today we will discuss domain extension and TLD. There are currently over 1600 active domain extensions in the domain market. Among them .com .net .org is very popular. Each of these domains is used for a different purpose. It is not possible to remember the domains of each domain separately so they have been divided into different categories (TLDs).

Class division of TLD:

  • Original top-level domains
  • Infrastructure top-level domain (ARPA)
  • Generic top-level domains (gTLD)
  • Geographic top-level domains
  • Country code top-level domains (ccTLD)

Original top-level domain includes .com, .net, .org extensions, which are open to the public. These Original top-level domains can be registered in the name of any person in the world.

Infrastructure top-level domain (ARPA) is used for this domain address and routing parameter region. .ARPA cannot be registered in the name of any ordinary person. It will only be able to register internationally recognized geographical research institutes.

Generic top-level domains (gTLD) This TLD has 2 types of domains
ICANN-era generic top-level domains
Internationalized generic top-level domains

ICANN-era generic top-level domains include various word-based domain extensions such as .academy, .accountant, .actor, .book, etc. All of these domain extensions are included. Anyone can take these domain extensions. However, there are some redirects in terms of words. Such .bank can only be registered for the bank.

Internationalized generic top-level domains These domain extensions are created by the script. However, I do not know why and for what reason these domain extensions are used or created. If any of you know, please let me know. There are mainly 3 types/language scripts used to create these domains.

  • Arabic script
  • Chinese characters
  • Cyrillic script

Geographic top-level domains: These TLDs are named after the city. For example: .Abu Dhabi It can only be taken by the people in Dubai. .tokyo It can only be taken by the people of Japan.

country code top-level domains (ccTLD) This is TLD and 2 types

  • Latin-character country-code TLDs
  • Internationalized country code top-level domains

Latin-character country-code TLDs This is an acronym for each country name. For example, .bd is for Bangladesh, .au is for Australia, .ma is for Morocco.
But did you know that the .me domain extension we use as our portfolio domain extension or many people think it is a domain extension to create a portfolio, their idea is completely wrong? Basically it’s ccTLDs in Montenegro

Internationalized country code top-level domains This is a domain extension made with the national languages of different countries. For example .Bangla is from Bangladesh, .ею It is from Europe, .India is from India.

Another of our popular domains is .xyz which we register at very low prices. Don’t know which TLD it includes?
